FAQs for Diploma Level 5

How long will this take to complete?

The awarding body for this qualification stipulates that the diploma should be completed within 36 months, though most students will successfully finish the programmer in approximately 9 months. We encourage students to learn at their own pace.

How is this training delivered?

Over the months, enrolled learners will put together an online portfolio of coursework for their appointed assessor, who helps to guide learners throughout their diploma.

How does it help new managers?

The qualification helps to both solidify earlier experience and learning and standardise knowledge and competence. The range of assessment methods will not only test knowledge, but proven workplace abilities. Assessment methods include direct observations and witness testimonies. As a competency-based qualification, it’s important that all those undertaking the Level 5 Diploma are in a role where they already undertake care management duties. However, employers can be flexible by delegating managerial tasks, secondments and other development opportunities to ensure the full scope of the qualification can be completed. This qualification was specifically developed for those managing an adult social care service, including the role of registered manager. This qualification requires learners to demonstrate an in-depth understanding and effective practice in leadership and management for adult care services. The qualification can be used to develop the knowledge and skills of care managers in a range of services including, but not limited to, residential services for older people and people with disabilities, domiciliary care services, day services, respite services and community-based services

Where can I progress after this course ?

This Level 5 diploma is the working equivalent of a foundation degree. Upon completing this programme, graduates have the option of moving on to a Level 7 strategic management diploma, or can undertake a range of other specialist courses.
